Kabir

I became fascinated by Kabir on a trip to India
where I read about him in a book called
"Doing Theology through the Poetic Traditions of India"

In one of his sayings he says "If you follow me I'll come and burn your house down"
or something like that . . . kind of like somewhow the "Billy Connolly Mystic Way"

Here is an example of his mystic poems - it reminds me of Jesus speaking to the Samaritan woman at the well (Gospel of John chapter 4) . . .

Where do you search me?
I am with you
Not in pilgrimage, nor in icons
Neither in solitudes
Not in temples, nor in mosques
Neither in Kaba nor in Kailash
I am with you o man
I am with you
Not in prayers, nor in meditation
Neither in fasting
Not in yogic exercises
Neither in renunciation
Neither in the vital force nor in the body
Not even in the ethereal space
Neither in the womb of Nature
Not in the breath of the breath
Seek earnestly and discover
In but a moment of search
Says Kabir, Listen with care
Where your faith is, I am there.

Moko Kahan Dhundhere Bande
Mein To Tere Paas Mein
Na Teerath Mein, Na Moorat Mein
Na Ekant Niwas Mein
Na Mandir Mein, Na Masjid Mein
Na Kabe Kailas Mein
Mein To Tere Paas Mein Bande
Mein To Tere Paas Mein
Na Mein Jap Mein, Na Mein Tap Mein
Na Mein Barat Upaas Mein
Na Mein Kiriya Karm Mein Rehta
Nahin Jog Sanyas Mein
Nahin Pran Mein Nahin Pind Mein
Na Brahmand Akas Mein
Na Mein Prakuti Prawar Gufa Mein
Nahin Swasan Ki Swans Mein
Khoji Hoye Turat Mil Jaoon
Ik Pal Ki Talas Mein
Kahet Kabir Suno Bhai Sadho
Mein To Hun Viswas Mein

Bhagat Kabir's my favourite too.Certainly the piece of poetry you have posted is beautiful and whole bani of Kabir reflects the same overtones.
May be you can try reading Farid ji's poetry too.Surely you will fall in love.
And if you want all that great poets(Kabir,Farid,Naamdev,Nanak, etc) at one place, then you just cant miss "Sri Guru Granth Sahib".It has just and just love song with divine longing to meet the beloved.

Cheers thanks for the tip about Farid Ji.

I found and enjoyed this:
A Student asked Baba Farid if singing was lawful and proper. He replied that, according to Islam, it was certainly unlawful, but its propriety was still a matter of discussion. Nizam-ud-Dauliya told Nasir-ud-din, a disciple of his, that one day when he went to visit Baba Farid he stood at his door, and saw him dancing as he sang the following :

I wish ever to live in Thy love, O God
If I become the dust under Thy feet, I shall live
I thy slave desire none but Thee in both worlds;
For Thee I will live and for Thee I will die.
